What's your tag?

"The whole point of a spectacular tag is not the artwork; it's the mystery of how it was done.... The mystery. That's the point. And there isn't enough of it in my opinion. My little blue mountains were small, but I made up for their size by putting them in audacious places where they would never be seen except by a bored office worker or a window washer," (7-8). Peak's blue mountains tag is representative of who Peak is both literally and symbolically.

Your Task
Create a new blogpost and write a well-structured paragraph explaining the significance of your tag.
How is your tag representative of your character?
Enhance your post by including a screenshot of your tag.

Be the change

As we have been discussing in class, we all live in and are influenced by the communities around us.  This is exciting as it gives us the opportunity to gain new understandings about people, their passions, perspectives, cultures and lives.

We know that in the novel Wonder by RJ Palacio, Auggie (the protagonist) sees himself as ordinary, in exactly the same way as everyone else views themself. However, due to his physical deformities often the reactions of others are hurtful and would be classed as bullying behaviors.

On Friday last week, during the Bullying Prevention Workshop  facilitated by Ms. Maxon and Mr. Farrow , all Grade 6 students had an opportunity to discuss how ISKL works to create a safe and happy environment for all students. In particular, the workshop:

1. Reviewed the ISKL school policy on bullying and why our community has these rules.

2. Talked about the impact of bullying and why we want ISKL to be a bully-free community.

3. Lastly, provided scenarios where group members had the time to discuss and create solutions to reduce bullying.

All the humanities teachers were impressed with your ideas and maturity during the session.

During humanities classes, your teachers have asked you to complete quick write(s) related to bullying.

After the quick write (s), you used the CRED paragraph planner to organised your Claims, Reasons, Evidence / Examples and Discussions.

Once you have our final version of the blogpost, you will be publishing your work.  However, please wait for your teacher to provide feedback before you publish your 2nd blogpost for the year.

Remember your final version,  :-

  •  Should follow expository writing paragraph structure
  •  Correct spelling, punctuation and grammar
  •  Include an image that enhances and complements your blogpost. (Don't forget to include a hyperlink and cite your source)!

Enjoy!
Your grade 6 Humanities teachers.
