What is my place in the world?

In Gr. 6 Humanities our overarching theme for the year is 21st Century Citizenship, and our Essential Question; "What is my place in the world?".

For us as international teachers who have lived away from our home countries for a number of years, the idea of home has many meanings, and it becomes harder and harder to define; Home could be where we were born, where our parents live, where our children live, and, of course, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Take a closer look at the graphic above. This colorful graphic was chosen because it creates an effective connection between the content and theme of this blogpost. The graphic is part of a mural by an artist called Marcio Melo. Melo is a figurative painter. He loves creating murals from nature and life, and many elementary schools contain his colorful artwork. For us, the mural of people standing on a globe holding hands seems representative of the global citizens of ISKL.

As you all know, the School-Wide learning results are the framework we use at ISKL to guide our curriculum;  using a blog as part journal, part reflective online tool is one way that we can share our experiences with a global audience.

Before we create individual blogs in class,  let's learn more about this amazing online technology.
